With Tim Madigan
Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 7pm at the Rice County Historical Society
Please join us for a program on the US-Dakota War presented by Tim Madigan, on Thursday, August 25, at 7pm.
Madigan, a lifelong student and former teacher of history, will address a tragic time in Minnesota history that involved a civil war within a civil war. He will lay out the time frame of the war and explain the various events leading up to the US Dakota Conflict, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Native Americans, settlers, and soldiers in 1862 in Minnesota. There will also be a discussion of the leading players and groups in the event.
Madigan is a lifelong student of history. His professional career has spanned public education and management in Minnesota, including teaching classes on the 1960s for the Cannon Valley Elder Collegium and serving as an adjunct instructor at MSU Mankato. Tim lives in the Faribault, MN area.
This little-understood war was the most dramatic event in the history of Minnesota and is worth exploring in more depth.
