An Evening Out with the Koopmans Orchestra

Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Faribault American Legion

5pm: Social Hour
6pm: Dinner
7pm: The Koopmans Orchestra will begin

Join the Rice County Historical Society at the Faribault American Legion on Friday, June 9, 2017, for dinner, a silent auction, and entertainment by the Koopmans’ Orchestra, sponsored by the State Bank of Faribault.

The Koopmans’ Orchestra is a locally based band that has history extending back to 1948, when Roger Koopmans of Faribault organized the band while he was still in high school. The original group included up to 16 instrumentalists from the region, and arranged for 4-5 gigs each year. Recently Gary Anderson, a clarinetist who started playing in Koopmans Orchestra at the age of 13, bought the band from Roger. We are excited to have this group share their always-popular Big Band music with us for our fundraising event.  You can listen to some of their recordings here.

During the evening we will also have a silent auction of merchandise and services from area businesses, as well as a raffle. All proceeds will support the Rice County Historical Society’s ongoing programs and activities and help continue to preserve the rich history of Rice County and to share our history with the community. This evening promises to be one you will not want to miss and won’t forget.

Dinner/event tickets are $25.00 each.

We also have a limited number of $100 raffle tickets which include: two dinner/event tickets (a $50.00 value), a 1 in 5 chance of winning your $100 back, and a 1 in 100 chance of winning the grand prize of $1,500. Tickets may be purchased at the museum.

The Faribault American Legion is located at 112 5th St NE, Faribault, MN 55021. For directions to the American Legion click here.
