With Amanda Roberts
On Thursday, February 8, at 7 pm, Amanda Roberts, RCHS Curator, will discuss the popularity of home spinning during the Civil War. She will compare and contrast the factors contributing to and results of home spinning in both the Union and the Confederacy.
Amanda holds a Master of Arts in Historical Administration from Eastern Illinois University. This presentation is based on research she did as a graduate student there. Amanda has been spinning since 2010 and routinely demonstrates at the Rice County Fair, at Montgomery’s Kolacky Days, and for school groups.
The cost of this program is $3.00 for nonmembers and free for members and will be held in the Carlander Family Room at the Rice County Historical Society located at 1814 NW Second Ave., on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 7 pm.
