UC Berkley – Free Speech March, Fall 1964

Over the past 50+ years, the era of the 1960s has evolved into the “Golden Age” for the post-WWII Baby Boomers. As with all Golden Ages, there are myths associated with the 1960s that contain varying degrees of truth.

The purpose of this program is to examine a few of the myths of “The 60s” through the lens of critical thinking. Some of the myths discussed in the presentation will reference the political orientation of Presidents Kennedy & Nixon, the 1960s as a time of “Peace and Love,” and perceptions related to the Vietnam War, etc.

The program will hopefully provide a novel view of some of the topics of this era.

Tim is a lifelong student of history and a proud Baby Boomer. His professional career has spanned public education and management in Minnesota, including teaching classes on the 1960s for the Cannon Valley Elder Collegium and serving as an adjunct instructor at MSU Mankato. Tim lives in the Faribault, MN area.

This program is free thanks to a grant by the Minnesota Humanities Center. We strongly encourage reservations, to reserve your seat please call 507-332-2121 or stop into the Rice County Historical Society Museum.
