SUMMARY:"Wheels of Murder" with Jeff Sauve
DESCRIPTION:Join RCHS and local author Jeff Sauve for a talk on his fascinating new book “Wheels of Murder: The 1896 Bank Robbery That Shocked A Small Prairie Town” on Thursday\, September 17 at 6pm. \nIn 1896\, the Kellihan brothers robbed a bank in a small southern Minnesota prairie town and fled on bicycles—the first ever heist executed on bikes. The violence they left behind ignited a 150‑mile manhunt. Wheels of Murder tracks their frantic flight\, the relentless pursuit\, and the deeper toll left in their wake. \nJeffrey M. Sauve is an award-winning writer and historian based in Minnesota. He has contributed numerous articles to regional magazines\, local historical societies and museums. After serving 20 years as an archivist at St. Olaf College in Northfield\, Minnesota\, he embarked on a successful writing career specializing in true-crime narratives. His inaugural commercial publication was Murder at Minnesota Point (North Star Editions\, 2022)\, and won several awards. \nThe book will be available for purchase at the talk. \nTalks are free for RCHS Members\, $5 for Non-Members. Call 507-332-2121 to pre-register. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Victorian Funeral at the Alexander Faribault House
DESCRIPTION:Experience the Alexander Faribault House like never before! \nJoin the Rice County Historical Society for a Victorian Funeral at the Alexander Faribault House on Saturday\, October 17th at 5:30pm and 7:00pm\, and Saturday\, October 31st at 1pm and 3pm\, to learn about death customs both locally and more broadly during the Victorian Era.\n\nThe Victorian Era was from 1837-1901\, when Queen Victorian ruled the British Empire.
